Wednesday, October 15, 2008:

Hello fans, it's been a while since I submitted any new updates. The Summer went by too fast, with little racing once again. I made 3 more outings since the last update, with few good results, but we did have fun.

We sold our Orange W.T. Harris car a few weeks ago and are now very excited to take delivery of our new W.T. Harris Late Model in Mid-November. I talked with Wayne Harris and the car's coming along nicely, with several new updates and changes to make her faster so with a little luck, next season's going to be a banner year.

I also want to thank my loyal fans for checking on our progress, and keeping the faith. Without your support, this would all be for not.

As the winter approaches, the majority of my time is going to be spent getting the new Late Model ready to do battle in the United Late Model Association next summer. I'll get new pictures posted as soon as possible, so that you can see the progress.

Have a great Fall season, and be safe during the Holidays. I'll update the news page again when I have something new to report, but in the meantime, thanks again for your support..............Brad

Sunday, April 13, 2008:

This past Friday night, April 11 the Sunburst racing team made it's season debut at the Benton Racepark in Benton, MO. There were 16 modifieds that showed up to support the O'reilly Mid-west Allstar sprint car series.

The track had taken a lot of abuse from Mother Nature with all of the rain this Spring, and as a result of the storms as late as Thursday, the racing surface was very dry on top, rutted and spongy beneath.

In hot laps, the car was very loose under throttle so we came back in and made a couple of changes to prepare for our heat race. We started the first heat race from the back row inside. From the drop of the flag, it was so dusty that I couldn't see the cars in front of me so I backed off a bit to let them get just enough ahead that I could see, and so that if they piled up going into the first turn I wouldn't become an early casualty. By lap 3, I had found the fast groove and had passed 2 cars when coming out of turn 4, I lost power. I glided down the back stretch only to have the engine dye. It wouldn't restart. Upon getting back to my pit, I removed the hood to find that I had lost the belt and drive pulley off the fuel pump. We were finished for the night. I had experienced this problem once before, but had discovered it during routine maintenance and had tightened the set screws that held the pulley in place with some loctite so that this wouldn't reoccur.

In all, it wasn't a total loss. I learned a couple of things about the car and how it worked on the new American Racer tires we've chosen to run this year, and by having the mechanical failure so early it possibly prevented me from tearing up something much worse due to the adverse track conditions.

The next scheduled outing is next Friday night at the Malden Speedway as we begin our points chase for a track championship. See ya at the races!!
